Black Panther crosses $1B mark worldwide

There's a new milestone for Black Panther being the latest movie to gross more than a billion dollars at the worldwide box office. Thanks to the continued success around the world and its sensational opening in its final market, China--- all in a month's time.

The movie's solid debut in China this weekend, where it earned $66.5 million in its first three days, helped the movie break impressive records: the largest February debut of all time (beating Deadpool), the second largest Marvel debut (after The Avengers), and the highest grossing film by a black director.


Domestically, Black Panther has earned more than $521 million and is expected to earn $40 million this weekend, which would bump The Dark Knight, which grossed $535 million stateside, of the top spot as the highest grossing solo superhero movie.

The latest installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the first to stay in the top box-office slot for four straight weeks.
